December 1
I went looking at fancy sewing machines today. It was overwhelming. And the $8,000 price tags didn't help. I'm looking for something significantly less expensive. A whole lot less! There was an event going on at the quilt shop, so nobody was free to help me. Their play area was closed because of the event, so I had an antsy Zorba on my hands which meant that I couldn't really look on my own either. It looks like I'll have to go back during the week when it is a bit slower in there.
We broke out all of the advent calendars today. We have 4. The one I made, a $2.00 Ikea calendar, and two elf calendars that I love. Zorba is all about advent calendars, let me tell you!
Here is how the one I made turned out. Not a great picture, but you get the idea. Zorba had a great time filling all of the pockets with hershey kisses.
We're going to cut down our tree buy our tree from HEB tomorrow. I hope we can still snag a good tree, because it looks like everyone went tree hunting today.
Back to sewing.

I love the advent calender... it almost makes me want a small person so I have a reason to make one... perhaps my niece needs one. The stamps with the fabric paint is brillant!
As for the sewing machines, in my experience the less extra stuff the better, get one with just as much as you need - mine is an old one (weighs way to much) but it works like a dream and only has about 20 stitch types.

My machine was significantly less than $8K. But other than that I can't help because my machine still scares me some days and I can't figure out how to do simple things on it some times. If they offer you classes for the new machine, take them, even if you think you won't need them. Excited you are getting a new machine!!

Wow! A new machine! I am using my mom's old Morse. It was the one I learned to sew on. She recently gave it to me and I love it. It isn't fancy but I don't do fancy. I envy you your skills and your new machine.
I love the advent calendar too. I want to try to make one for next year. That is such a great idea and my kids would love it!
