If you've adopted and have been home with your child for less than a year, you ought to look into this. It is a wonderful opportunity to have some amazing photographs taken of your family. The sitting fee is waived and you will receive a complimentary set of proofs.
And of course, everyone waiting to bring their babies home, bookmark the site, because you'll want to use it one day. www.celebratingadoption.org.
The Brown Envelope* has arrived! I had a feeling that we would get it this week or next because people on my dtc group have been making brown envelope announcements all week long. Also, we got the BE quickly last time, so I assumed that this time would be the same.
*The Brown Envelope is not that huge of a deal, but everyone gets excited about it because...well, what else do we have to get excited about when it comes to the wait? It contains documents that we will need to complete the adoption while in China. Some people never get the BE, but apparently is okay if you don't, because your agency can you help you get them or something like that.
I saw on a yahoo group that someone with a dtc date of June 8th (I'm June 9th) has a lid (log in date) of June 15th, so I'm going to guess that that is my lid date too. I'm out on a limb with that guess, of course.
10 more days to dtc. Guess what....I'm still short a couple pictures for the dossier. Looks like I'll be staging some shots tomorrow. I love how I'm last minute on this. How long have I had to get this done? 6 months! And yet I'm still cutting it close. We also need to get our passport pics taken. I'm dreading this because I don't do well on these. I always make a freaky face. Always. This time I'm determined to smile for the picture even though I know I'll feel like an idiot smiling for a passport picture. Plus, I'm going to apply extra makeup for the passport pic because I always look like a ghost.
Our social worker just called, she wants to do the last post placement visit tomorrow at 10:30! I said yes. My house can be easily put in decent shape, so that is not an issue. But we have to have four pictures ready for tomorrow, one of which must be a family photo. This is a pain, yet it is perfect timing because we need to take family pics for the dossier. I'm sure Ray will be happy to open the front door tonight to see Zorba, me, the camera, and the tripod waiting for him.
This is the week that I will complete gathering the rest of the documents for our paperchase. I'm going to make this the week to finish. And it is off to a good start. Today we got Ray's employment letter. Tomorrow I plan on getting our financial letter and my unemployment letter finished. Wednesday will be the day that our police clearance is done. Thursday I'll do whatever else we need. And I am determined to have everything certified by the Secretary of State's office by no later than Monday. Then next week will be for the Chinese Consulate. It must be. We have 23 days (17 business days) until the deadline to have it into our agency. That is a lot, I guess. But I want to make sure it is in before the deadline (self-imposed).
On June 9th, I want to post: We're DTC (dossier to China)!!!!!
