Quilts

Here is what I'm working on these days.  The hot pinks look kind of red in this picture and it is not red.   

Some times I get to looking at the green fabric and I start to fret that it is not going to work with the pink.  Maybe once I start piecing the squares I'll quit fretting.  This quilt calls for five panels of those strips and so far I have three done. 

I'll put up a picture or a link of a finished version of this quilt later.

Here is the quilt I'm working on that I have put on hold.  I needed to step away from it for awhile.

Hah, I just realized that this quilt is pink and green also. 

Uh oh, Z is up, must go. 

Confetti Quilt, You and I Are History

I'm getting an annulment from the Confetti quilt.  I'm using fraud as the reason.  That's right, I'm the Renee Zellewegger to the Confetti quilt's Kenny Chesney.  I worked for hours just to get one freakin' block okay and the thought of having to do that with every block makes me feel ill.  I just can't do it.  So I'm leaving the Confetti quilt, just like Paris left Paris and now I'm shacking up with the Marquee quilt. 

I've even chosen a new color scheme.  I'm doing pink and green for this one.  I'll use the purpley fabrics for something else.  I feel much better about the Marquee quilt because this one consists of simple strips and squares.  That is what I'm used to, so that is what I'm sticking with. 

Perhaps I Need to Pick Another Quilt

Duh.  I realized that I wasn't taking seam allowance (is that what it is called?) into consideration.  I now see how the template has the ability to form a square.  Whether or not I'm patient enough to actually sew the pieces into a square or not, I don't know.  I did a practice square and it came out rather funkified.  I'm going to try  more practice squares to see if I can get this right.  I'm determined to get this right.   The book says that the Confetti quilt is a great quilt for beginners and that it can be knocked out quickly.  Hmmm.   

In Z news, now that she is walking she likes to grab my hand and pull me where she wants to go.  I never knew how much she likes going outside until now.  She is forever grabbing my hand and pulling me with all of her force towards the front or back door.  Once she went and brought me my shoes before she pulled me to the door. 

The Almost Square

I just cut out the templates for the four pieces that make one of the squares for the Confetti quilt and I'm a freaking out because these pieces don't make a square, they almost make a square, but not quite.  I lined them back up with the templates in the book and they match perfectly, so I'm guessing and hoping that this is part of the plan.  That once I sew one of these almost squares together that it will make sense and form a real square.  Ughh. 

Modern Quilt-Along

I've been quilting a lot since Z came home even though itt has to be done while she is napping or when she goes to bed at night.  I tried quilting while she is up, but doing anything on the sewing machine is impossible with Z around because she wants to be involved.  And since I don't want to sew her fingers into a quilt I have to wait until she goes down.  Once she does, I turn my Ipod up, and place her baby monitor close by so I can see if she cries, and the quilting begins. Since she has been home, I've made a quilt for a friend's daughter, and am fixin' to finish a quilt for my Z.  When I finish Z's quilt, I'll post a pic and tell you about it.

Even though I've not yet finished Z's quilt, I'm starting on another one.  This one is for Kim's Modern Quilt-Along.  I feel kind of nervous about participating because if my quilt sucks butt then it will publicly suck butt.  And it is not like any quilt I've ever made.  I always make quilts made up only of squares.  This one does not.  I should have taken a picture of the picture of the quilt that I'm making, which is called "Confetti."  I'll stick one up later.  For now, here is the fabric I've selected for my Confetti quilt.
