More Danielle

If you signed up for a visit from Danielle and you have yet to hear from me, please leave a comment.  My email is acting up and I have emailed a couple people that never received my emails.  And it is not too late to offer an invitation to Danielle. 

A little note on this Danielle stuff will work.  When you receive Danielle, if you've requested to be surprised by her arrival, then you should email me to let me know that you have her.  Then you will receive an invite to post (as her) on her blog as well as where she is to be sent next. 

I know that Danielle is with her current host and that she is having a hell of a time.  And I know that she will be with someone else in the very near future.  Ol' Danielle, she gets around.

Danielle will be on the first plane out of Austin tonight.  Where is she headed?  You'll find out soon!   We were sad to see her go, but very excited that she is on her way to her next home.

Locked and Loaded

Oohhh, the weather is cool in Austin this morning.  It is sooo nice.  I think I may have to put something warm on Zorba and take her to the park.  We need to enjoy this nice weather NOW, because I am certain that it won't last. 

I worked on some bibs last night.  It was the first time since coming home from my parents that I worked on bibs.  I would have quilted them, but I didn't have the proper thread color.  So that is on my to do list today.  That and find out what to buy to put snaps on my bibs.  We'll see if that works for me.  I might suck at installing snaps. 

Referrals are due starting today and I've got The Fortunate Hammer locked and loaded.  Or is it cocked and loaded?  Nah, locked and loaded.  Yeah.  And she is ready, people.  She is so ready to knock some people senseless and I'm ready to hear some baby news!  I'm guessing that lots of refreshing will be going on today. 

Quilt It and Danielle Update

Last night, instead of wandering around the house (like I usually do) trying to decide if I should clean, watch tv, or do something creative, I actually DID something creative.  So many days/nights I think about doing more bibs, quilting, or whatever, but I let something else (cleaning or a television show) get in the way.  Maybe I ought to move a table into the living room so I can sew and watch the tv?  Yeah! 

So I worked on this wee quilt for the upcoming Half the Sky auction.  It is a doll quilt or I think it would be cute framed and hanging in a nursery (but that is me).

I pinned the hell out of this baby.  And it paid off for me, because I usually don't pin the hell out of quilts and they slip (I'm just using the foot that came with the machine), but this one didn't slip at all.  Thank you, pins!

I can't put a quilt (even a small one) down without a dog or Zorba getting on it.  Those are Kallie's paws that you see. 

It is just a bunch of strips of fabric sewn together, just like the creamsicle quilt that I did as well as Ping's baby doll quilt.  I have a thing for strips.

All that is left is for me to bind it.  And if you can't tell in the photographs, the color of the quilt is a sagey/celery green.  The back is the polkadot material.  Keep your fingers crossed for me that I can do the binding without screwing the quilt up.

You'd never know by her pictures that she is a spaz, but I'm telling you, she is.  Total spaz.

In Danielle news, she is currently packing her bag because she will start round one of her journey tomorrow.  All of you who want Danielle to visit, I will be contacting you in the next two days to find out where you want her sent.  And Dani's blog is almost ready!

I don't know where Danielle came from or why she ended up on a street corner, but I do know that she is ready to hit the road again.  So the question is, who wants to host Danielle? 

Are any of you interested in having Danielle visit you?  I don't know how it would work, but I think it would be fun to see her go from state to state and house to house.  All you would have to do is take a picture of her at your house (with or without you in the picture) and then mail her to another  person who is willing to do the same.  And then we could follow the adventures of Danielle.  Maybe she could write letters from the road, I don't know. 

Any takers? 

Danielle is a brown noser, so I don't think she'll give you any problems.  She aims to please.  I've tried scrubbing her clean, but the dirt appears to be permanent.  Maybe I need to take some soft scrub to her?

Three Months

We're now three months into the wait.  Three months!  Yippee!  We probably have at least 15 more months to go.  At least.  So three months feels like a tiny drop in the ol' bucket.  But that is okay.  We're three months closer than we were in June.  And the wait so far has been very easy.   Thank you, sweet Zorba.  BUT, I still measure time by referrals, the time from batch to batch.  I can't help it, I think is just what one does when one is in the wait.  Waiting to see when referrals will arrive and how many lids get referrals, etc, it is all part of the game of waiting.  And this next month is going to be chock full of referral goodness. The Fortunate Hammer is cocked and ready to start beating the good fortune into a number of people.  You know who you are! 

Freakin' Knees

I like to peek in on Zorba after I've put her to bed.  You know, to see if her pants and diaper are still on and to see if she has drifted off to sleep.  But I can't seem to sneak down there without her knowing that I'm there because my knees pop.  And even though the popping is barely audible, she knows it is me and instantly starts yelling, "Mama!  Mama!  Mum!" 

Arrghh.  Damn knees.
