Self Portrait Challenge - Self Portrait As...

A Toddler. 

This is me in the tub acting like a toddler with my most favorite toddler in the world, Zorba the Tiny.  I had to get Ray to help me with this because it was just too much effort to set the timer (without getting water on the camera) and get back in the tub without killing myself. 

I always take a bath with Zorba because it is easier for me and she loves it.  When I don't sit in there with her she points in the tub and says, "Mama, mama!"  And washing and rinsing her hair is sooo much easier when I'm in there with her.

Self Portrait Challenge - Pop Art - Week 4

Sometimes I work on my entry for Self Portrait Challenge and I think to myself, "Wow, you're really weird."  This is one of those times.   

 

I'm glad that this is the last week of Pop Art, because I didn't know what the hell I was doing.  I enjoyed looking at everyone else's entries, just didn't have that much fun doing mine.  But, that is one of the reasons why I like SPC so much.  It forces you to come out of your comfort zone and try something you wouldn't ordinarily do.   

Oh my gosh, there is nothing funnier to me than seeing Zorba walk around the house with this wig on.  I'll have to get a picture of her in this thing. It is hilarious!

Self Portrait Challenge - Pop Art - Week 3

Pop Art month is not going that great for me, but I have something planned for next week.  Next Tuesday is still June, right?  I have to check the calandar.  For more Self Portraits, go HERE!

A new foster family for Kallie has been located.  She'll go some time late next week, I think.  We're going to keep her for her dental surgery and let her have a chance to recover from that before stressing her out with another move.  When I got the email that they have someone (a very good someone) to take her I started to bawl and just walked around the house bawling like an idiot.  Maye I'm not so good at fostering.  But you know what is nuts?  I would do it again.  If they need us to help another one in the future and it is a good fit as far as the dog is good with kids and other dogs, we'll do it again.  I'm sure I'll be crying and moaning about it when they have to go too.  Sigh.

Self Portrait Challenge - Pop Art - Week 1

Obviously, I went Warhol this week. 

Here is the photo that made up the collage above.  Ray says that it disturbs him.  I'm wearing my halloween wig and Zorba's boa.

Self Portrait Challenge - Introduce Yourself - Week 5

Yeah, so that is me sandwiched between my child and my dog.  It is hard for me to go anywhere in my house without having one or both of them following me. 

So this is the last week to introduce myself.  I don't know what to tell you.  Maybe that I like to eat raw potatoes and that my husband always warns me that they can be lethal.  Or that I like vinegar w/ my french fries and not catsup.  I watch soap operas...I'm not proud of this.  I have a freckle on my lip.  I used to Mormon, but not anymore.  You can hear my valve clicking in a quiet room.  I do the dishes by hand even though we have a dishwasher.  I detest grocery shopping.  My middle name is Ann.  I take great pride in the fact that I can trick my dog into taking her pills.  I have to put it in a piece of quiche and then drop the quiche on the floor and act like I don't want her to eat it.  She falls for it every time.  I wish my parents lived in the same town as us.

Self Portrait Challenge - Introduce Yourself

This is me looking out my window up into the sky.  I'm a dreamer! I am forever thinking up new projects.  In fact, I have lists of stuff that I want to do.  It is overwhelming to think of all of the stuff that I want to do.  I should probably stop dreaming up new things to do and just work on what I have in front of me, but it is impossible!  I see a picture or read about something and I think, "Ohhh, I want to do that!"  And on and on it goes.  One more, two more, three more items added to my to do list.  The problem is that I'm not always the best at finishing things that I start.  I'm good at coming up with ideas, but not necessarily following through with them.  I could give you a list, but that would make me tired and sad at all of the things that I haven't completed.

Maybe I need to join Dreamerupperaholics Anonymous.  Hello, my name is Michele, and I'm a Dreamerupper.

Self Portrait Challenge - Introduce Youself

I missed last week's Self Portrait submission, I know.  I didn't feel like doing it, so I didn't do it.  But I'm back.

I am tired.  Damn, I'm tired.  I would love a nap right now, but it is time to fix dinner and Zorba the Tiny needs tending to.  Some days I feel more tired than others.  Some days I should probably take a nap when Zorba goes down, but I rarely take a nap because I want to get stuff done.  I want to rest on the couch to knit while I watcand watching a television show.  I want to sit without having 24lbs hanging from my shirt.  I want to be able to concentrate on something without worrying that my child is on top of the kitchen counters.  I want to sit by myself for an hour and if I napped that hour would pass so quickly that I wouldn't even know it happened.  So I don't nap and I'm tired. 

Today has been a day of running around so I'm feeling extra tired.  I love my girl, I love her like I've never loved anyone ever, so please don't think that I'm complaining about her.  She is a toddler, she does what toddlers do.  She goes, goes, goes, goes, and goes some more.  She is curious, she wants to be with me constantly, and I love that.  I love that she wants to be with me, because I want to be with her.  However, I really enjoy the napping hour.  Man, I love naptime.  And I love that moment when I'm in bed at night and I'm so tired that I can't keep my eyes open and I know that I'm about to fall asleep and that I have 7 or 8 hours of sleep ahead of me...........

Self Portrait Challenge - Introduce Yourself- Week 1

Yes, this is late!

Hello, my name is Michele and I am a mother to 21 month old Zorba the Tiny.  I have other interests than her, quite a few really, but she is the focus of my life.  I wouldn't have it any other way, though I admit it would be nice to be able to veg on the couch every now and then without having to worry about whether or not she is dumping entire bottles of salad dressing on the floor or not.  Yes, that happened yesterday.  An entire bottle of salad dressing on the floor. 

In the beginning of bringing Zorba home I didn't know what to do with her.  I felt lost and unsure of how we should spend our day.  Now, I feel like we're got a groove.  It is good.  We're good.  We know what we're doing, Zorba and me.  For now, right?  Because as she grows older I'm sure we'll have to figure out what we're doing over and over and over again.   

This is us today before going out to meet some friends.  We're home now and she is passed out in her crib and I'm enjoying vegging out on the couch not worrying that my child is pouring an entire bottle of salad dressing on the floor. 

I love this because she is holding the lens cap and her blankie.  The blankie is silky side up which is how she likes her blankie and she loves carrying around the lens cap.

Self Portrait Tuesday - April Fool -Week 4

I came oh so close to not posting today.  My parents are here and we've been in and out and doing this and that.  That combined with the fact that I was at a loss for what do for today I considered bagging it for one week.  But then I got to thinking that I've been so good about keeping my promise to myself to post every SPT that I hate to mess it up. It is stupid, but it would bug me if I didn't post. 

So, here we are, Bat Mom and Bat Daughter.  We snuck this photo in while my mom was talking to my next door neighbor.  I ran inside w/ Z, set the timer, swooped her up, put on our masks, and struck a pose (all in 10 seconds!).  And that was it.  I took just one shot this week.  I usually take 10 or so, just to make sure I get something, but there was no time today, plus Z would not wear the mask again. 

Relating bats to Z and me:

Z and I visited some underground caves last week and we saw two tiny bats.  They were so cute!  And tomorrow night, Ray is taking some business associates to a bridge in Austin to watch the bats fly.  Also, I used to be a card carrying member of Bat Conservation International (which I believe is headquartered in Austin, but I can't say for sure and I'm too lazy to check), but I forgot to pay my dues one year and then another year, and then another year, and you get the picture.  But even though I let my membership lapse, I do love bats.  You could even say that I'm a FOOL for bats!
